India has just digested its best ever performance at the Olympics and there’s more medals coming our way, this time from the Paralympics.
India won its first medal at the Paralympics and it is silver.
Girisha Nagarajegowda made India proud by winning a silver in the men's high jump event in London.
Girisha, who is 24 years of age, jumped a good 1.74 meters in the final. His performance was applauded by Indians and foreigners alike.
Not long ago, the Indian Paralympic coaches were criticized for leaving their athletes uncared for at the Games Village and enjoying the tourist destinations.
However, the Karnataka boy rose to the occasion and performed like a dream.
The gold in the event was won by Iliesa Delana of Fiji. Nevertheless, Nagarajegowda, became the first Indian to win a Paralympic medal in this event.
Nagarajegowda suffers from a leg impairment, but his performance has helped India better their last Paralympic performance in Beijing where they did not win a single medal.
The Indian contingent includes ten athletes including the silver medalist. Here’s hoping India shines in the sporting event and brings back more medals.
