MBA as a course has always seen an abundance of male population. This year however IIM-B has two big reasons to smile. 1 being the diversity that it has received from students belonging to geophysics to pharmacy and 2 because for the first time the institute will boast of 100 female students in this year’s batch.
MBA institutes have always been flooded with engineering students specifically male. However, this year the percentage of engineers has dropped from 93.06% in 2010 to 88.86% in 2012. Inspite of this, out of the 377 students at IIM-B there are only 42 non-engineers - 27 are from commerce background, of which 10 are chartered accountants. There is one student from Arts and 11 from Science.
