The north-eastern state of Assam has experienced the worst floods in the last couple of decades as 27 of its 28 districts are inundated. Lakhs of people in the state as well as animals in the famous Kaziranga National Park have either been displaced, injured or have lost their lives.
At the Kaziranga National Park it has become a struggle of survival. The rhinoceros, for which the Park is known all over the world, and other animals are fighting the incessant rains and flooding. Major parts of the park are under water. It is feared that at least 500 animals have perished.
