Prince Atif continued on his quest for his Princess Laiba after finding out the building in which she had been kept captive by evil-warlord Jaffer (Prince of Parzania - The Magical Map)
. While travelling, he stumbled upon a humble village called Al Hazara in the kingdom of Parzania. The village had a very rustic and simple ambience in comparison with the other places he had seen in Parzania. He decided to have some grub and take refuge in the village for the night. However, he realised he had run out of money. He sat down sadly patting his camel, pondering what to do next. Three mischievous-looking children, who introduced themselves as Rehan, Fatma and Aysha, understood his plight and decided to help him out. They took him to a shop and told him that the owner of the shop was a cruel man who had duped several people of their money. They suggested he steal some food from the shop to satiate his hunger, and, in the
process, avenge those cheated by shopkeeper. Prince Atif agreed and with their help stole a huge pile of expensive-looking dates. He divided the dates into two equal portions: one for himself and his camel and the other for the three children and asked them to divide it equally amongst themselves. After that he thanked them and retired for the night.
Before retiring, the kids decided to count the dates. They found that the dates were less than a hundred in number. During the night, Rehan woke up, slyly counted the dates, and found that he could segregate the dates into 3 equal portions, if he took one for himself. He took a date and ate it up. Then, he took a third of the rest for himself, hid them and went off to sleep. Shortly after that, Fatma awoke, counted the dates and found that she could separate the dates into 3 equal portions if she took one for herself. Like Rehan, she also took a date, gobbled it up and hid a third of the rest for herself and went to sleep. Later that night, Aysha also woke up, did the same thing and slept off. After waking up in the morning, when they counted the dates, they found that the remaining dates could be divided into 3 portions if a date was removed from the pile.
How many dates, in all, had been stolen by Prince Atif and the kids? Provide a detailed solution along with your answer.
