The Staff Selection Commission (SSC), which conducts an exam to make appointments in central ministries and other government departments, has apologised for a question that asked candidates which Bollywood actress was the tallest and gave a choice of four. Also, in the Reasoning section of the paper, one question came with an unusual statement: "All women are cats, All cats are rats."
The Women's Commission in Kerala had called the question paper "gender insensitive" and demanded an explanation. SSC chairman Mr A Bhattacharya, has said that no one at the Commission had set the questions. Local teachers were appointed to set a bank of questions, which were chosen by a panel of experts to set the final paper.The SSC has agreed to the demands of the Women's Commission that the two controversial questions will not be considered for evaluation. |
