khushalikamdar: how to prepare for CAT
Akshaya Iyer: Please refer to answer 6
Akshaya Iyer: For revision, keep giving mock papers. They will help you gauge how much you know, and in which areas you lack preparation. Focus on these areas. They will ultimately help you improve your overall knowledge. For GDPI processes, practice is the key. Keep giving mock PIs to friends, family or whoever has the ability to judge you on this. Keep it formal and your attitude should reflect a BSchool interviewee. TestFunda has excellent practice modules.
debgiet: what type of attitude should be there in GD very calm or agressive
Akshaya Iyer: Calm ALWAYS. It showcases your demeanour towards your peers in a discussion and you should always be receptive in the GE as well. Make sure you involve others in the discussion, it showcases leadership trait in you which colleges want..
mthakkar: hello sir
Please Can u suggest a good revision strategy?
Akshaya Iyer: For revision, keep giving mock papers. They will help you gauge how much you know, and in which areas you lack preparation. Focus on these areas. They will ultimately help you improve your overall knowledge. For GDPI processes, practice is the key. Keep giving mock PIs to friends, family or whoever has the ability to judge you on this. Keep it formal and your attitude should reflect a BSchool interviewee. TestFunda has excellent practice modules.
priyanka.lad: Can you tell how to prepare for CAT exam?
Akshaya Iyer: When it comes to preparing for any competitive entrance exam, the first thing to do is get the basics right. Be well versed with all the Quant formulae and the short cut tips. For English, again the basics will help. be well versed with preparatory material like Wren & Martin. LR and DI have no tricks as such and require a lot of practice. For exams where GK is a part, be well versed with the current affairs, modules for which can be found at TestFunda itself. Practice is the key and keep giving as many mock tests as you can.
rhine29388: What process to follow for preparing the exams if are scores are stuck between 96 to 98.5%tile all the time
Akshaya Iyer: In this case, you should do an analysis of what is going wrong. Try to increase your accuracy in the exams and refrain from answering questions which you aren't completely sure about. Try giving as many mock tests as possible.
rhine29388: How to prepare for group task conducted in symbiosis group colleges?
Akshaya Iyer: Well the preparation remains the same as any GD process, you should use your knowledge and apply it in the group tasks as well. Additionally:
- Do not hoard the task. Make sure you give everyone an equal chance. You do not want come across as very aggressive.
- These tasks are meant to test your leadership abilities, so make sure you utilize the resources and delegate the task well amongst your team mates.
- Always, I repeat always keep track of the time. You should ideally complete the task
- Stay confident and keep calm, it reflects in your words and actions.

With all this, I believe you will do well
rhine29388: I have given 10 mocks of each CAT,XAT,IIFT and SNAP,Should that suffice?
Akshaya Iyer: I believe you have prepared very well. Make sure you keep calm and your effort will be worthwhile. All the best.
Shivani.rkss234: Is it important to prepare the academic subjects and the internships/trainings for PI at SCMHRD?
Akshaya Iyer: You need not prepare the academic subjects. You may however have basic knowledge of what courses the college has to offer. SCMHRD for example has a unique Infrastructure Management course. If you were to mention this to the panellists, they would have an impression that you have done your homework
anubhavzarabi: Sir is there anything specific that we need to prepare for Symbiosis Calls?
Akshaya Iyer: Symbiosis colleges have a GE rather than a GD. This is where the whole group has to come together to a common solution to the problem/task presented. leadership initiatives and team cohession is a very important factor in these rounds. Also., there is a Written Ability Test which sees how well you can put words to your thoughts. be very clear about what you write, and dont try to impress by using fancy words. Instead get your thoughts across well.
rhine29388: Which college is better to choose between sibmp and scmhrd?
Akshaya Iyer: Both colleges have their strengths and are amongst the top of Symbiosis Institutes. SCMHRD, along with being amongst the top HR oriented colleges in the country has greatly advanced into other specializations such as Marketing, Finance, Operations and infrastructure management as well. The recent SCMHRD placement reports support the growth as well. You can take into account the location that the institutes have to offer. SIBM has one of the best campuses in the country, while SCMHRD enjoys a prolific location in the IT hub of Pune, Hinjewadi giving students greater access to resources.
You can further research on respective college websites and see which college would suit you best.

anubhavzarabi: Sir for the two kashmiri migrant seats how many candidates are called for interview process ?
Akshaya Iyer: the numbers are maintained by the institutes. I can answer your queries regarding the process

rhine29388: sir are u currently a student in scmhrd?
Akshaya Iyer: Yes. I am pursuing my MBA at SCMHRD in marketing specialization
rhine29388: Score in snap for which u got a convert in scmhrd? please provide the sectionals also
Akshaya Iyer: 99.76%ile overall. There is no sectional cut off for SCMHRD
rhine29388: Sectionals you received because i have heard that possible low score in gk can reduce your chances drastically
Akshaya Iyer: Low score in any section reduces your overall SNAP score which is obviously bad. However if your overall score is more than the cut off, then its based on the GEPIWAT scores more than anything else.
arin90: What is the score for SCMHRD conversion? At 98.07 percentile and with a fairly good interview should I see myself through?
Also I have 2 years work experience and what are my chances for SIBM conversion as well..
Akshaya Iyer: Regardless of the score, if you do well in the PI you have a good chance for converting. Keep calm and trust in yourself and your abilities.
Same for the SIBM Process as well.
arushisood: What should be our everyday schedule for preparation ?
Akshaya Iyer: Reading newspapers, practicing a few mock PIs with your peers or family.
rhine29388: Besides full time work-ex does any weightage given to social work done part time or a some experience running a family business?
Akshaya Iyer: there is not any weightage as such to social work but it definitely adds value to your application. Family business depends on the kind of work you do, if you have undertaken important roles in your organization then it is worthwhile mentioning it in the process
debgiet: how to increase vocabulary
Akshaya Iyer: Read newspapers and websites such as project syndicate, Forbes India, Livemint, Scroll.in. Practice important words from GRE preparations if you may
debgiet: what to prepare on work expernce i have 2.5yrs
Akshaya Iyer: Make sure you know your projects in and out. Your take aways from your experience there. What implementations you brought about and your team dynamics. Any achievements if any (For eg. best salesman, employee of the quarter etc).
Rajesh93: Is it true that they give 50 % weightage to SNAP score. What are my possibilities for conversion if I've a comparatively low score but made the cutoff?
Akshaya Iyer: If you have made the cutoff for the Process, you have an excellent chance of making it. There are a lot of factors which decide whether a candidate is selected or not, and  the SNAP score is one of them. Do well in the process and you dont have to worry about the SNAP score hanging over your head.
rhine29388: Is it true that actual selection statrs atleast 1 to 2 %tile above the cutoff: I have experienced the same last year for all symbiosis colleges that i had received a gd/pi call?
Akshaya Iyer: No that is not true at all. Apart from the how well you do on the day, the SNAP score certainly does have a weightage, but that does not imply any bias towards the lower cut off aspirants.
karrosht87: Hello Sir, I am not very good at the current affairs, will this be a challenging point in PI ?
Akshaya Iyer: Well it would definitely be. It is never too late, I would suggest you read extensively till your process date.
Personal tip: make note of important events in a word doc and skim though the same closer to the process dates
Rajesh93: Any tips regarding how to tackle 'Why MBA' question?
Akshaya Iyer: This question is very subjective to every individual. The format I followed to structure my answer was:
My current situation in work/personal life ----> My aspirations in life ---> How MBA will help me reach my goals.

Hope this helps
rhine29388: last year itself i saw students with score above 85%tile called to siib but actual selections started at 94 %tile(lowest we know from pagalguy)
Akshaya Iyer: I do not have suitable knowledge over this question. I will be glad to answer your queries related to the process.
karrosht87: Is it okay to say that 'I dont know' in PI to any question that you cannot answer ?
Akshaya Iyer: Absolutely. Honesty is always the best policy in a PI as you will be faced with stalwarts from the industry who have a lot of experience and can pretty much see through you. Dont try to deceive them as that will create a negative impact in their minds.
debgiet: tell me how much time it take to fully preapre for mba if we dedicat our self
Akshaya Iyer: It depends on your aptitude, acumen and attitude. Some people crack it without prepration, some do not despite multiple attempts. My advice is to practice hard and go for your dream institute
priyanka.lad: Are there any sectional cut off for SNAP exam?
Akshaya Iyer: There are no sectional cut offs for the SNAP exam. only the overall aggregate score is considered.
Rajesh93: What if the GD is competitive? How can I show myself calm and composed when they don't give me a chance to speak?
Akshaya Iyer: You can always request your peers to let you speak. Subtle hints such as 'Friends, I would like to state a point' or 'I would like to add my point'. People would in general give you space to speak
Akshaya Iyer: Thank you all for your participation.
