Triple talaq and polygamy practised by many Muslims are not sanctioned by Islam, the Centre told the Supreme Court. Urging the top court to declare these practises unconstitutional, the Centre asserted that they affected the fundamental right of Muslim women to live in dignity and without any security unlike women of other religions in the country.

On Monday, Flipkart, the country’s largest e-commerce conglomerate announced $1.4 billion funding from WeChat-investor Tencent, Microsoft and eBay, at $11.6 billion post-transaction valuation. “We are delighted that Tencent, eBay and Microsoft — all innovation powerhouses — have chosen to partner with us on their India journey,” said Sachin Bansal and Binny Bansal, Founders of Flipkart, in a company statement.
PepisCo, Coca Cola restrained from drawing water from Tamil Nadu river

Softdrinks majors PepsiCo and Coca Cola were on Monday restrained by officials from drawing water from Tamirabharani River in the district till April 30 for their bottling plants in view of the acute water shortage. The water level in the Papanasam and Manimutharu dams across the river was enough only to meet drinking water requirements, District Collector M Karunakaran said in a release.

Pakistan said on Monday a military court has sentenced to death Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav for allegedly spying and stoking violence in Balochistan, drawing an angry response from New Delhi which said it will be a “premeditated murder” if carried out. India summoned the Pakistani high commissioner Abdul Basit and handed over a demarche describing the court proceedings as “farcical” and also put on hold the release of several Pakistani prisoners, scheduled for Wednesday.

India may impose anti-dumping duty of up to $8.71 per kg on Amoxycillin, an anti-biotic medicine, from China to ringfence domestic players from cheap imports. Aurobindo Pharma had filed the application before the Directorate General of Anti-dumping and Allied Duties (DGAD) for initiation of probe into the import.
