In a tree plantation, 6400 trees are planted equally spaced in a square lattice. What is the maximum number of trees that can be cut down so that from any stump, you cannot see any other stump?

(Assume that the trees have negligible radius compared to the distance between adjacent trees. Also a stump is the part that remains rooted to ground, after a tree is cut.)
