Maharashtra CET for MBA, MMS admissions back

TestFunda ,  18-Oct-13
The Maharashtra government has brought back its Common Entrance Test (CET) for admissions to MBA/MMS courses in the academic year 2014-15. The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), which is responsible for filling management seats in Maharashtra, announced the decision on its website.

The announcement as seen on the official DTE website

As per the notification (posted on DTE's website in Marathi), 85% seats in government and aided colleges, along with 65% in unaided and minority institutes, will be filled using CET scores, while 15% shall be All India seats that will accept scores from CAT, MAT, XAT, ATMA and CMAT.

The CET had been scrapped last year after the introduction of the national level Common Management Admission Test (CMAT), conducted by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE).

Further details on the dates, procedures and other aspects of CET are awaited.

39% MBA seats vacant in 2013; Maharashtra CET may be brought back

Officials had claimed that the lack of awareness about the all-India CMAT and discomfort for the online format among rural students were among the key reasons for seats going vacant in Maharashtra. Hence, the decision for re-introducing the CET was being mulled upon.
