The HRD ministry has decided upon scrapping engineering entrance exams such as AIEEE and IIT-JEE that set forth the path for students to seek admission in to the IITs and NITs. These exams will be replaced by ISEET - Indian Science Engineering Eligibility Test. The exam paper will be set by the IITs and test will be conducted by the CBSE board.
Admission into colleges will depend on a student’s class XII score and performance at the ISEET main and advanced. Details on the same are given below:
Date/Month of Exam: April or May 2013
Structure: ISEET Main + ISEET Advanced
Duration: 3 hours each between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. on the same day
Coverage: ISEET Main (Objective Test) – Logical Reasoning, Critical Thinking and Comprehension
ISEET Advanced – Problem Solving Skills in Basic Science Subjects
Weightage: At least 40% to Class XII Board Exams (Can go up to 100%)
Maximum of 60% to ISEET scores
The weightage given to each section will be decided upon by each state separately.
