The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer adaptive test that assesses a person's analytical writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills for being admitted into a graduate management program, such as an MBA. It is a registered trademark of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). Over 5,900 programs offered by more than 2,100 universities and institutions use the GMAT exam as part of the selection criteria for their programs. Business schools use the test as a criterion for admission into a wide range of graduate management programs, including MBA, Master of Accountancy, and Master of Finance programs.

There is no specific eligibility criterion for GMAT. However, various universities / colleges which accept GMAT scores have their own criteria of admission.

Note: Total GMAT Score ranges from 200 – 800. The total score is based on the verbal and quantitative scores. The Analytical Writing Assessment score and the Integrated Reasoning scores are not taken into account while calculating the total score.
If you do not finish in the allotted time, your scores will be calculated based upon the number of questions answered as long as you worked on each section. Your score will decrease significantly with each unanswered question
After the test is finished, the following options are provided:
Accept Your Score: After you finish your exam, you will be given 2 minutes to decide whether to accept or cancel the score. If time expires before you make a selection, your score will be automatically cancelled. If you do not accept your score, you will not be able to see your unofficial score report.
Authentication code: The unofficial score report contains an authentication code that you will need to access your Official Scores. Please keep a printout of the unofficial score report as this is the only time you will receive this code.
Send official score to 5 programmes: You can select up to 5 programmes to send your official score report at no extra cost. You will not be able to change the selection once made or select your initial 5 programmes free of cost at a later date.
If you would like to send your score to additional programmes, you may order Additional Score Reports at US $28 for each programme.
Scores are valid for five years after the year in which you appeared for the test.

Exam Format

GMAT is conducted in two formats: computer-based and paper-based. In India, only the computer-based format is available.

Important Dates

GMAT can be taken once every 31 days. This includes test attempts in which the score was cancelled by the candidate.

How to Apply

Test takers may register for the GMAT either online at or by calling one of the test centers. To schedule an exam, an appointment must be made at one of the designated test centers. The GMAT may not be taken more than once within 31 days, even if the scores are canceled.
